What is Regulated Child Care?

Regulated child care provides a foundation for safe child care settings by conducting background checks, regular inspections and complaint investigations. Types of regulated child care include:

  • Certified Care (3 or fewer children under age 7 in care)
  • Licensed Family Child Care (up to 8 children under age 7)
  • Licensed Group Child Care (9 or more children under age 7)
  • Day Camp (seasonal program for 4 or more children ages 3 & up)

Description
Staff A and Staff B in the 3-year-old/4K wraparound combined classroom indicated they had 12 children in the classroom when they had 13. A review of the sign in sheet indicated that 16 children should have been present. Two children, who had been transitioned to the school-age group, were not signed out. One child was signed in but did not attend the center that day due to illness.

Description
During an investigation, Staff A did not provide accurate information when Staff A stated she was not aware that a child had been dragged across the playground by a teacher on 09/06/2019. Documentation of text messages verified that Staff A was aware of this incident. -Staff A inaccurately informed the child's parent that the incident had been reported to the Department, when it had not been reported. Staff A denied providing such information to the parent. Documentation of text messages verified Staff A had informed the parent the incident had been reported.
